Founded in 1901, The Children's Shelter was the first nationally accredited children's agency in South Texas. We provide safe haven and emergency care for children who have been abused, abandoned or neglected and we specialize in care to infants and young children, serving newborns up to the age of 12 years. Nationally recognized by the Council on Accreditation for Services to Families and Children, we provide the only emergency shelter in Bexar County for children below the age of two years. We are a United Way agency affiliated with the Texas Association of Leaders in Children and Family Services.
